Official Rules limit Pinewood Cars to a maximum weight of 5 ounces, but check the rules for your local contest to be sure.... Most Pinewood Cars weigh between 1.5 oz & 3.5 oz (depending on design) without any added weights, so a Pinewood Car may need up to 3.5 oz of extra weight.... The heavier your car is, the faster it’ll be, but the location of that weight makes a difference.... The best placement for center of gravity is 1/4" to 1" in front of the rear axle. Go too far forward and you lose potential energy, too far back & your car will lift its front end..... Tungsten is best for this because it’s so dense, allowing for precise placement & tuning....
