From the beginning of Football through the Andy Reid era. This book is written for those of us who love reading about Kansas City Chiefs Football. Those who dislike the Chiefs for their own reasons, will also want this book, so they can try to get a leg up on the facts missing from the bookshelves of those Chief’s fans who do not have this book. The book first tells the story about the founding of the Chiefs as a new team in the then new American Football League (AFL) in 1960; but it reaches even back further in history than 1960 to find the beginning of the NFL and the beginning of football itself. After talking about how primitive man played football, this book quickly moves on to describe the beginning of football in the US and it recounts the first "American Football Game" in 1867. From there, the progression includes college football teams loving the new sport and their graduates looking for a place to play football after college. Eventually all of this build-up in the 1920’s to the beginning of the National Football League and of course the American Football League (AFL) in 1960 with the Kansas City Chiefs under the name of The Dallas Texans. Their first coach was the legendary Hank Stram. In 1963, 29-year old owner Lamar Hunt moved the team to today’s Kansas City venue.Hunt had been frustrated by unsuccessful attempts to gain an NFL franchise. So, he embarked on a course that would dramatically change the face of pro football forever. He founded the KC Chiefs as the Dallas Texans and he was the principle businessman behind the formation of the American Football League. Lamar Hunt also served as president of the AFL when his eight-team league began play in 1960.It seems like yesterday but for those pros trying to create a league in the 1920’s out of nothing, they might have gotten nothing without their hard work. And of course, this great book about the Chiefs would have been nothing without Lamar Hunt’s desire to do the impossible—create a football league to compete against the NFL. Until Andy Reid, 1st Coach Hank Stram, with 3 AFL Championships and two Super Bowl appearances & a win was #1. Marty Schottenheimer had seven playoffs, But, the new #1 is the man who broke the 50-year drought, Andy Reid. “Big Red” who won the latest Super Bowl for the Chiefs, who are now reigning National Champions. The team won their most recent Super BowlS, 2 in a row, in 2023/2024.This book captures the great story of Chief’s Football even before the Chiefs were the Chiefs. At the time, they were the Texans. This Chiefs-first book takes the reader through stories about their 13 coaches to great stories about the 64 seasons worth of great games (983 games ) with 533 great wins. The book often stops in time and talks about a particular great player such as Len Dawson, Tony Gonzales, Dante Hall, Johnny Robinson, Buck Buchanan, Derrick Thomas, and of course 3-time Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes. These stops will add substantially to your reading enjoyment. And, so now, I dare you to pick up this book for, if you are a Chiefs fan, you will never put it down again. You cannot ever get enough of the Chiefs greatness, but we do provide as many stories together in one spot as we can in this can’t miss book. Read more
